Herbal Supplements & Botanicals

Our full range of herbal and botanical supplements, spanning single-herb extracts and traditional blended formulas from brands including Solgar, Lindens, Floradix, Vitabiotics, HealthAid, KIKI Health and Dr. Vegan. Herbal supplements are traditionally used products — most haven't been evaluated under the strict scientific standard required for an authorised EU/GB health claim, so we describe them by traditional use rather than promising a specific effect.

Adaptogens and energy

Ashwagandha, Korean and Siberian ginseng, and rhodiola are among the most searched-for adaptogenic herbs, traditionally used to support the body's response to everyday stress.

Liver and digestive support

Milk thistle, dandelion, artichoke leaf and globe artichoke extracts are long-standing choices in traditional liver-support ranges, alongside Floradix's liquid digestive formulas.

Circulation and heart health

Hawthorn, beetroot extract, grapeseed extract and related botanicals feature across several brands here, often in liquid or capsule form.

Women's health botanicals

Red clover isoflavones, dong quai and sage leaf extract are traditional choices during the menopause transition — see our dedicated Menopause collection for the full range of formulated products.

Cognitive and eye health

Ginkgo biloba, bilberry and lutein-containing formulas are popular for their traditional association with mental alertness and eye comfort, though neither ginkgo nor bilberry currently carries an authorised GB/EU health claim.

Mood and calm

St John's Wort (sold here under HRI Good Mood) is one of the most researched herbal ingredients for mood, but it has well-documented interactions with several prescription medicines, including antidepressants, contraceptives and blood thinners — always check with a pharmacist before starting it if you take any regular medication.

As with all herbal and botanical products, check the label for suitability if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, on medication, or managing an existing health condition, and speak to a pharmacist or GP if you're unsure. Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.

No. In the UK, herbal food supplements are regulated as foods, not medicines, which means they can't legally carry a claim to treat, cure or prevent any disease. A small number of specific herbal products (like some Ginkgo Biloba products manufactured to a Traditional Herbal Registration, or THR) carry a THR marking, which permits a narrower traditional-use claim under MHRA oversight — but the majority of products in this range are standard food supplements without that registration.

Some can interact with medication, so it's worth checking before combining. St John's Wort is the best-known example — it interacts with antidepressants, contraceptive pills, blood thinners and several other common medicines. Others, like ginkgo biloba, can interact with blood-thinning medication. If you're on any regular prescription, speak to a pharmacist or your GP before adding a new herbal supplement, rather than assuming it's automatically safe to combine.

A single-herb supplement (like Solgar Milk Thistle or Lindens Ashwagandha) contains one botanical ingredient at a stated dose, so you know exactly what you're taking and at what strength. A blended formula (like Vitabiotics Menopace or Dr. Vegan Stay Calm) combines several herbs and/or nutrients designed to work together toward a broader goal. Single herbs suit people who want precise control over what they're taking; blends suit people who'd rather not source and combine several products themselves.

Not necessarily — many herbal ingredients aren't recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and this varies significantly by herb. Always check the product label for specific pregnancy and breastfeeding guidance, and speak to your midwife, GP or a pharmacist before starting any new herbal supplement if you're pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
