Extracting oil from rose petals is a delicate and challenging process, primarily achieved through two methods: solvent extraction to produce a concrete that is then refined into an absolute, and distillation to obtain an essential oil. While absolutes yield a richer quantity, distilled oils offer a finer, more delicate fragrance.
Rosa Centifolia and its close relatives are extensively cultivated in Morocco to produce a rose concrete, from which the renowned rose de mai absolute is extracted. This variety typically provides a higher yield of absolute compared to the Turkish and Bulgarian Rosa Damascena, although the latter regions generally yield more essential oil through distillation. Consequently, Moroccan absolutes and Turkish or Bulgarian distilled oils are commonly found on the market, each prized for their unique characteristics.
This Rose Absolute is 100% pure and natural, expertly diluted to 5% in lightweight, moisturizing Coconut Oil for ease of application. Its gentle formulation makes it ideal for direct use on the skin as a luxurious perfume or blended with other oils to create soothing massage or bath treatments.
