Frequently Asked Questions

What does PDO certified mean for the olive oil?

PDO stands for Protected Designation of Origin, a European certification confirming that a food product is genuinely produced in, and meets the standards of, a specific geographic region -- in this case, Azouro's olive oil is certified this way for its Portuguese origin.

This is a meaningful distinction from generic "extra virgin olive oil" labelling, since PDO status ties the product to a verified place of production and production method.

Beyond the oil, Azouro's olives (Galega and Negrinha do Douro) are also specific Portuguese varieties, named after their regional origin rather than being a generic "mixed olives" product.

What's the difference between the Galega and Negrinha do Douro olives?

These are two different Portuguese olive varieties, each with their own characteristic flavour and appearance -- both sold in 350g jars. If you haven't tried either, they're worth comparing side by side since regional olive varieties can differ noticeably in taste.

What's in the canned fish range?

Azouro sells organic mackerel fillets (in oil & lemon thyme) and organic sardine fillets (in olive oil & seaweed), both 106g tins -- a step up from generic tinned fish, using named flavour combinations and organic certification.

Are Azouro products suitable for a Mediterranean-style diet?

The range -- olive oil, olives and canned fish in olive oil -- fits well within a Mediterranean-style approach to cooking and eating, though as with any diet approach, check specific nutritional details against your own requirements.

How should the olive oil and olives be stored?

Store olive oil in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight; once opened, olive jars are generally best kept refrigerated -- check the label for specific storage guidance.

Let’s Hear What Our Customers Have To Say

Product and price are both 5 star. Courier awful. Tracking less than useless but seriously, these items are fabulous. And this was definitely the best price I’ve seen. I’ll put up with the longer delivery time. It’s not the seller’s fault at all. I’m telling all my T2D friends about these. The only crisp type snack...

Good quality product, higher dha/epa than others, being in a foiled pouch helps keep fresh and doesn't allow light to oxidise as fast as clear packaging. Recommended.
